Keto Taco Seasoning
This quick homemade keto taco seasoning is my go-to anytime I want bold flavor without the junk. It takes less than 5 minutes to mix up and has zero sugar, starch, or weird fillers.
I use this exact blend in my Keto Taco Chicken Casserole with Cottage Cheese and always keep a small jar ready for taco bowls, spiced meats, or casseroles. It’s warm, savory, and just spicy enough with none of the additives that mess with blood sugar.
These Homemade Taco Spices Are:
- Sugar free, low carb, and gluten free
- Easy to double or triple for meal prep
- Made with clean pantry spices
- Ready in 5 minutes – just mix and use
- Bold and flavorful without being too hot
Instructions
- Measure out all the spices and add to a small jar or bowl.
- Stir or shake well until fully blended.
- Use about 2 tablespoons per 1 pound of meat.
Tips
- If you are meal-prepping or batching, I now skip the salt and add it when cooking instead. It keeps things flexible for dishes that already have salty ingredients (like cheese or broth).
- To batch for meal prep: just increase the serving size in the recipe card below. It scales automatically so you never need to guess.
Testing Notes
This is the same seasoning I used in my taco casserole recipe. I tested it with and without cayenne and while I love the heat, it’s completely optional. The smoked paprika gives it a deep, rich flavor that makes it feel like a “real” taco blend even without the sugar or starches most brands sneak in.
Ingredient Swaps
- Smoked paprika: You can sub sweet paprika if that’s all you have, but it will lose the “taco” depth.
- Garlic and onion powder: Essential for savory punch. No fresh subs here.
- Cayenne: Skip or add more to taste. This is where you control the heat.
Storage Tips
- Store in a sealed jar or spice container.
- Keep in a cool, dry spot (pantry or spice drawer).
- Stays fresh up to 6 months, but it never lasts that long here.
Ways to Use This Taco Seasoning
I first created this blend for my Keto Taco Chicken Casserole, but I’m already testing a dozen more ways to use it. More recipes coming soon.
Try it in taco egg scrambles, keto chili, or taco-seasoned ground beef bowls with cauliflower rice.
Conclusion
Clean, comforting, and totally customizable, this homemade keto taco seasoning helps you take back control of your flavors. No sugar, no mystery fillers, just pure, real spices.
I’ve been keto since 2019 and recipes like this are how I make the lifestyle sustainable and satisfying. Once you make your own taco blend, it is hard to go back to store-bought.

This turned out so well. I keep a jar of it in the cupboard now and use it in all sorts of quick keto dinners – casseroles, taco bowls, even scrambled eggs. It actually tastes like taco seasoning should (bold, savoury, no weird aftertaste). So easy and way better than store-bought.
